John Bredfeldt is a graduate of Mankato State University with Honors in Political Science and a minor in Business Administration/Accounting. He received his Juris Doctorate in May of 1991 from Western State University, College of Law. John is a Member of the State Bar of California.

John founded the firm in 1996. He practices in all areas of Workers’ Compensation including claims pursuant to Labor Code Section 132(a), Serious and Willful claims and fraud. John has appeared multiple times for oral arguments before the California Court of Appeals.

John has successfully represented Insurance carriers, self-Insured clients, as well as numerous public entities since 1992.

Akins K. Odukoya

Akins Odukoya is a graduate of Knoxville College, Knoxville, Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude and an MBA from West Coast University. He received his Juris Doctorate from Western State University, College of Law in May of 1994 and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Civil Procedure. Akins is a member of the State Bar of California.

Akins joined the firm in January 2000 and is currently managing our Corona office. Akins has over 21 years of experience in the field of Workers’ Compensation, first as an insurance adjuster and for the past seven years practicing all aspects of a Workers’ Compensation defense attorney including Trials and Appeals.

 

David M. Suarez

David Suarez received a B.A. in Criminal Justice. He attended Glendale University College of Law where he was a member of Law review. He graduated with honors earning his Juris Doctorate and subsequently admitted to the California State Bar.

David commenced his career in workers’ compensation in 1989. He worked with the claims department for Liberty Mutual InsuranceCompany on national accounts such as UPS, J.C. Penney and Sears, Inc. David’s experience includes working for Gabriel, Madsen & Zaks, Zonni, Ginnochio & Taylor as well as the house counsel program for Liberty Mutual Insurance.

David’s primary area of practice is Workers’ Compensation, to include defense of Labor Code §132(a), Serious & Willful Misconduct and fraud. He represents insurance carriers and self-insured employers with an emphasis on self- insured and employers with a high retention deductible.

 

Patrick A. Dwyer

Patrick A. Dwyer Patrick Dwyer is a graduate of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts. He received his Juris Doctorate from The University of San Diego Law School in 1978. Patrick is a member of the State Bar of California.

Patrick joined the firm in November 2003 and is working in our Irvine office. Patrick has over 18 years of Workers’ Compensation defense experience, most specifically working as in-house counsel for Kemper Insurance and for the past six years handling all aspects of the defense of Workers’ Compensation matters from Appeals to take nothings and as a supervisor to other attorneys. Patrick also has experience in Subrogation and general civil matters.

 

Doug B. Finlayson

Doug B. Finlayson Doug Finlayson is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts. Doug received his Juris Doctorate from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law in 1979 graduating in the top 10% of his class. Doug is a member of the State Bar of California.

Doug joined the firm in December 2004 and is working in our Irvine office. Doug has a vast experience in insurance working for The Automobile Club of Southern California. He has over 13 years of experience with Civil Litigation including personal injury and personal injury defense. Doug also handles the firm’s subrogation matters.

 

Jaswinder K. Han

Jaswinder Han is a graduate of California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of La Verne College of Law. Jaswinder is a member of the State Bar of California, the San Fernando Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Jaswinder is a Managing Partner in our Sherman Oaks office. She has experience in the insurance industry working as a team leader, training employees and working with doctors and claimants as a disability claims manager. Since 2001, Jaswinder has worked as a defense attorney handling all aspects of Workers’ Compensation.

 

Jon A. Steelman

Jon A. Steelman Jon Steelman is a graduate of American College of Law, in Brea, California. After joining the California Bar and after a brief period in criminal defense, he has practiced Workers’ Compensation defense in California since 1990

Jon has represented carriers, workers’ compensation administrators and California employers (insured or otherwise) in defense of case-in-chief matters, Labor Code section 132a allegations, and Serious and Willful Misconduct of Employer allegations. He directs litigation from file opening, deposition, discovery and trial. He has appellate experience at the WCAB panel and Court of Appeal level, including oral argument at the 2nd Dist. Court of Appeal. He also has experience in protecting employers’ subrogation interests and interfaces well with civil counsel and judges in the Superior Court venues. As a guiding strategy, he feels that cases are best defended when we are aggressive and well prepared for Trial at the earliest opportunity. In this way, optimum results are obtained for the client, with either effective presentation of defenses at trial, or the best, most reasonable settlement results, whichever is more appropriate to protect the client’s interests.

 

Blair E. Turner

Karen M. TangBlair E. Turner is an associate in the Irvine Office. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Business Marketing. Blair earned his Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, California in 2010. He graduated with a Pro Bono Honors award by volunteering hours with a criminal defense firm. His experience in the insurance industry began early when he was hired as a summer law clerk with a San Diego civil litigation firm handling complex personal injury claims. Blair is a member of the State Bar of California and the Orange County Bar Association.  

Prior to joining Bredfeldt, Odukoya & Suarez, Blair was an Associate at a firm in Irvine, where his practice focused on employment matters such as discrimination, harassment wage and hour issues and representing injured employees.  He has significant experience in preparing and appearing for dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions and all aspects of trial preparation in state court. Blair now focuses his practice on representing and defending employers.

 

Karen M. Tang

Karen M. Tang Karen is an associate in the Corona office. She graduated from University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology; and received her Juris Doctorate from Western State University, College of Law. She started her career in consumer law, representing various banks and creditors. Karen has been admitted to the California State Bar and U.S. District Court, Northern and Eastern Districts.

Karen began her career in Workers’ Compensation with a reputable defense firm in 2012. She handles all aspects of Workers’ Compensation, including defense of Labor Code §132(a), Serious & Willful Misconduct and fraud.
